When drains the stores of joy, set out for the steely depths of an alloyed ocean.
|
Sunrise, Fossil Beach |
Fossil Beach; Bird Island; Kalsin Bay; let the salt soak your feet.
|
Hacienda, Bird Island |
A great grey rock lulls in the swell; bursting fountain, cologne du herring,
|
Sparring crags, Bird Island |
A humpback, stone-still in the bay; beast and spray fade; burst again further off to port.
|
Boarded |
On and around islands green, past headlands brown and grey, speckled with seagull white; paradise found.
|
Solitaire |
Puffins and oystercatchers, magpies and eagles; sea otters, seals, and sunstars unbelievable.
Out upon the open water, view magnified against the scale-model boat resting just there.
The sun leans out its farewell rays, rolls on into another dawn; your kayak draws near to tidal lands.
Those stores filled now, like the bay twice each day; some will soothe, some will stay.

Lichened to a forest |
